“I would have never thought that some of my bad habits could cause urinary incontinence.”
After the first episodes of urinary leakage, I worried about having prostate problems and went immediately to the doctor, but the tests were all right. So the causes had to be necessarily other: naively I did not believe that overweight and smoking were among the causes of male urinary incontinence. But my family doctor opened my eyes, gave me a series of tips to improve the situation and suggested that I use a specific incontinence pad.
At first, I felt uncomfortable, but I must say that no one has ever noticed anything. So after a while, I got used to it (and above all I no longer had the anxiety of risking getting my pants wet or having to run to the bathroom suddenly).
However, embarrassment was a constant with my wife: every time we had intimate relations I happened to have involuntary leakage of urine. Therefore at some point, I began to avoid finding myself in intimacy with her. This was the beginning to undermine our marriage even out of the sheets and I could not accept it. So I decided to make a new appointment with the doctor despite being ashamed to face such a sensitive topic. Luckily I did it!
I discovered that there are simple precautions. For example, it is enough to choose the positions that do not “stress” the bladder. Now our intimacy is back to what it once was, and I no longer have to worry about anything else but her.
